Post Extraction

Keep biting on gauze pad for 45 minutes.
Strictly NO smoking for 24 hours.
Avoid Alcohol.
Rest for a few hours following treatment and avoid strenuous exercise for 24 hours.
Do not rinse for at least 24 hours. Rinsing can dislodge the blood clot. After 24 hours rinse mouth gently after meals and before bed using ½ teaspoon of salt in a glass of warm water. Hold the solution in your mouth for several minutes, discard and repeat 2-3 times. Do not spit with too much force.
Avoid hot fluids and hard or chewy foods.
Avoid sucking at or interfering with the wound.
Should slight bleeding occur, sit upright with head and shoulders raised. Apply pressure using a small pad of gauze clamped firmly between the jaws for 30 minutes. Repeat if necessary.
For pain relief take Panadol, Panadeine or Nurofen. Avoid Aspirin as this may increase bleeding.
